Introduction
 Explore Africa Adventures is a privately owned safari company and which caters for African clients as well as tourists from abroad. The company was founded by André van Vuuren in 1997.
Explore Africa Adventures has a firm belief that you cannot be everything to everybody, and that is why the company specializes in three African countries namely; Botswana, Zambia and East Africa. The company is in possession of a Zambia National Tourism Board (ZNTB) License, a Botswana Tourism Enterprise License and guides are registered with FGASA (Field Guides of Southern Africa) as well as the Department of Environmental Affairs and tourism.
Explore Africa Adventures (André van Vuuren) and Africa Bushcraft & Survival Adventures (Koos Moorcroft) teamed up recently to to offer the overland explorer an exciting variety of safari and survival products. Product information will be shared across both websites so as to offer all visitors a comprehensive choice of crossborder safaris, local (South African) safaris and related training.
While Koos Moorcroft's concentrates on local safaris, West Africa and survival training, André van Vuuren will act as your host in East Africa, Botswana, Zambia and Mozambique.
Safaris
We cater for two types of Safaris:
- Self Drive: This is an option exercised by residents in the region who use their own vehicles and normally tend to their own catering requirements. Fully catered options are also available on demand.
- Luxury Safaris: cater for visitors from abroad and are all-inclusive in respect of equipment and catering. This is a more exclusive package for clients who want a true African experience with a high degree of comfort. Lodge accommodation in combination with luxury camping ensure that our clients will experience the best of both worlds. Cuisine is a true African bush spread, which is prepared on an open fire.
We seldom remain in the same camps for more than two nights. Moving to different venues affords clients the opportunity to experience the various Eco-systems and wildlife endemic to the respective areas.
- Duration of standard safaris varies between eight and twelve days.
- Customized safari packages are available on request, provided there is a minimum of four clients for that particular safari.
- Maximum number of clients per safari is ten.
- We travel with a maximum of three clients per four-wheel drive vehicle.
- Each vehicle is appropriately equipped for travelling in the bush.
- Vehicles are in constant contact with each other by means of two-way radios.
- The lead vehicle is equipped with a high frequency radio and is in constant contact with the office in South Africa.
- At any given time the exact position of the group is known by means of a Global Positioning System.
- Crew members are trained in the administration of first aid.
Special Events
Explore Africa Adventures takes pride in its ability to organize tailor made special events:
- In April 2004, the company was involved in the media launch of the new 4X4 Ford 4.0l V6 in the Okavango Delta of Botswana.
- Explore Africa has done selections for the 4x4 Eco Challenge for the last four years and also hosted the Final event in Western Zambia, in 2004.
- The company was responsible for the adventure event management during the last Mrs Universe Contest held at Mabalingwe in South Africa.
- In March 2005 Explore Africa was contracted again to host the media launch of the Ford F250 Super Truck in Zambia
- The company is presently contracted to host selections for the Spirit of Africa trophy as well as to assist with the semi-final and final events of this prestigious new competition. One of their 4X4 instructors and junior safari guide, Willem van Vuuren qualified as one of the finalists in this grueling event in 2005.
