SB 05 - Pilanesberg Culture & Nature
Tour (5days)

small bus tours >
pilanesberg culture & nature tour
Introduction
Visitors
are offered many opportunities to experience the wonders
of Pilanesberg. There are nearly 200 kilometres of
excellent quality roads for either self-drives or guided
drives, and professional guides operate within the park.
Numerous
hides and scenic picnic sites enable the tourist to
experience "out-of-car" experiences as well.
At the
Lesedi Cultural Village the discovery begins at the
Ndebele village where the introduction to the cultural
experience precedes a multi-media presentation on the
history and origins of today’s rainbow nation. This is
followed by a guided tour of the other four ethnic
homesteads – Zulu, Basotho, Xhosa and Pedi. As the sun
sets over the African bush, guests are escorted to the
Boma for traditional singing and dancing (a very
participative affair!!) depicting stories that date back
to the days of their ancestors.

Day 2 Day
3 |
We
will leave early morning and drive to Hartbeespoortdam,
surrounded by the majesty of the Magaliesberg mountain range. Early work on the
dam began around late 1895. Construction was on and
off over the years up until 1923 when a young
engineer took over the building of the wall. The Dam
was constructed in 1925. The Crocodile and
Magalies
Rivers
leads into the Dam and the capacity is 205 million
cubic metres and its shoreline, when full, is about
56km. The Hartbeespoort Dam was built as an
irrigation dam for the surrounding agricultural
areas. The Dam Wall is the only example of a Roman
Triumphal Arch Styled Wall in
South Africa
.
From
here we will drive a few kilometer further to the Elephant
Sanctuary, surrounded
by natural indigenous bush and is home to impala,
klipspringer, baboons, porcupine, caracal, leopard,
a host of other small mammals, 350 bird species and,
of course, four magnificent African Elephants. Here
you will be able to interact and learn more about
this beautiful animal.
For
lunch (Included in package) we will stop at the
Bosvelder Restaurant where we will enjoy real
African hospitality and meals before leaving for our
first overnight stop at Manyane
camp.
This camp is situated next to the Pilanesberg
Game Reserve
in the
North West
Province
, adjacent to
Sun City
. Set in the crater of a long extinct volcano,
the Park ranks among the largest of the parks in
South Africa (it is in fact the fourth largest park)
and covers an area of 55 000 hectare. The beauty of
Pilanesberg is reflected in a large central lake,
the Mankwe Dam. Over time, wind and water have
carved a spectacular landscape with rocky outcrops,
open grasslands, wooded valleys and thickets.
Pilanesberg
National Park
accommodates virtually every mammal of southern
Africa
. Also home to the Big Five.
The
next day after breakfast we will leave for an early
morning game drive, look for the Big Five and enjoy
nature at own leisure. In the afternoon we will go
back to camp for lunch, relax or take a swim before
leaving on a guided evening game drive into the
reserve.
We
will stay here for two nights.
(Safari Tents, Breakfast, Dinner included in package.)
(Lunch @ Pilansberg not included in package.) |
Day 4
|
We
will leave the camp after a warm breakfast, enjoy
our last game drive before leaving the reserve on
our way back to
Pretoria
. After a stroll through the Chameleon
Village flee market we will visit the Lesedi
Cultural Village where you will have the
chance to interact and learn more about the
different African cultures.
With
this our tour ends and we will depart for
Pretoria
and our overnight accommodation.
We
will stay here for one night.
